Detta mail kom idag, torsdag 7 februari, från Dawn, som jobbar
på Noah's Arks informationskontor i Chania. |
"Silke gav mig följande information igår: Det område vid Akrotiri som ETN har övervägt att köpa för att anordna ett djurhem, om den lokale borgmästaren ger tillstånd för detta, är på ungefär 35.000 kvm. Hela området, förutom 7.000 kvm, är avsett att göras om till naturreservat. Detta gör att borgmästaren inte vill ge tillstånd för byggnationer. Men om hela området skulle kunna köpas privat, och de resterande 7.000kvm. visar sig kunna rymma ett djurhem, en klinik och annat utan att det skulle påverka det tänkta naturreservatet, då skulle det inte finnas några giltiga skäl att förhindra det planerade arbetet med att bygga. Silke, samt medlemmar från Noah´s Ark och ETN sitter just nu och funderar hur detta ska kunna göras rent praktisk. Det finns ju ingen anledning att sätta igång arbetet med detta om det sedan skulle visa sig att man får riva ner alltihop igen! Jag återkommer så snart jag har mer att rapportera om detta. update yesterday: The piece of land on the Akrotiri which could be bought for the animal shelter by the ETN (Europäischer Tier- und Naturschutz - European Association for the Protection of Animals and Nature) if the local mayor would give permission for an animal shelter to operate there is apparently some 35,000 sq metres. All but 7000 sq metres of that is currently designated as a nature reserve and the mayor will not permit any building to be done there. However if the whole area could be purchased privately and the 7000 sq metres outside of the restriction could house an animal shelter, clinic and so on without disturbing the protected area then the mayor should have no valid reason to object to the plan. Silke, members of the Noah's Ark association and the ETN are currently considering whether this could be done practically. Obviously there would be no point in going ahead if the clinic has to be sited away from the shelter for instance. I will let you know more as the idea develops. Regards, Dawn" |
